After two years of preparation and intensive crew training, IJM finally received to operate its Falcon 900EX EASy under CAT IIIa commercially. The aircraft is based in Geneva, an airport which especially during autumn and winter often has low visibility procedures in force caused by the near Lac Leman. Visibilities below 300m (CAT II minimum) are happening frequently at destinations located close to rivers and lakes. The commercial CAT II approval, also not very common in business aviation, for IJM’s Falcon Fleet was already approved in 2011. Now, with the new authorized approach limit of 200m RVR and a ceiling of 50ft only, a continues operation, even for weather situation normally closing airports for business and general aviation is granted for this aircraft. According our research, IJM seems the only “business operator” within the EASA region who finally received a “commercial CAT IIIa” approval for one of its aircraft and its crew.
“We are proud of our commercial CAT IIIa approval and IJM presents itself once again as vanguard. During the last two years of preparation, scheduling and training we gained a lot of experience and know-how which makes us high qualified and competent.” adds Felix Feller CEO and founder of IJM.
